Today’s thoughts by Deborah Ard.

Mark 10:13-16 NIV—  People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

Matthew 18:2-5 NIV —  He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

This week I am sharing ministry opportunities. Ministry is the act of serving others. On the back of the weekly bulletin at my church there is a section that has a list of ministry opportunities for the week. One of the ministry opportunities listed currently is Vacation Bible School planning meetings.

Our Vacation Bible School, also known as VBS, is not until the last of June. However, the planning is in full swing. If you read the blog May 3-9 you read about various ministry opportunities within VBS. Today’s featured scriptures remind us of how important children’s ministries are in growing the kingdom of heaven and producing Christ-like fruit.

What role do you play in VBS? Are you willing to embrace the ministry opportunity of VBS?

Let’s pray. Dear God, open my eyes to the VBS ministry opportunities You would have me embrace. Create in me a yielding heart that is open to help grow the fruit of Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
