Please read John 15:1-17 KJV.

I have always been intrigued with the word “abide.” In my studies I researched and found the definition of abide is to continue in a place; sojourn. Then I looked up sojourn which means to stay at a temporary residence; stop.

Spend some time thinking about what abide means to you. How does it look, sound, feel to abide? Where are you in your relationship with Christ when it comes to abiding? Have you discovered the perfect balance of how to abide throughout your day or is there room for improvement? Take a few moments to abide with Christ and stay a while. Take some notes as you brainstorm with Him about what it means to abide and ways to abide with Him daily.

Let’s pray. Dear God, open my eyes, ears, heart, and mind to Your presence today. Show me what it means to abide and ways to abide in You daily. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Julie’s Sourdough Bread

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭NIV — And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.‬‬

God our Father meets all our needs. After 29 days of waiting, I am thankful to report that my pap smear came back good. I am finally free from the Human Papillomavirus and the pre-cancer cervical cells. God is so good!

I am also happy to report that my sourdough bread-making is off to a great start!

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬ — Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles.

Who did I share my troubles with? After almost four weeks with no results, I turned to some very dear friends for comfort and prayer. God gives us Godly friends to help us soar when we are weary. We read in ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭31‬ ‭NIV — but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.‬‬

God has also given me a husband who I can lean on and who has been on this journey with me. I am blessed to have a waiting room companion. My husband reminded me over and over that the doctor expected good results. God gave me hope when I learned that the laboratory was behind on reporting. Meanwhile, I followed through with obtaining a sourdough starter from a friend so that I could be reminded of God’s daily bread. 

Let’s pray. Dear God, thank You for giving me Godly family and friends who I can turn to for comfort and prayer. Thank You for a very active sourdough starter. I ask that You bless my family and friends for being faithful. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬ — I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

While at the Winter Jam concert, I visited Katy Nichole’s merchandise table. I bought two bracelets. One that reads, “Jesus changed my life” and the other, “Even though I can’t, my God can.” My favorite promise has always been Philippians 4:13. It isn’t often that I read the surrounding verses. It is hard to always be content in present circumstances. This verse helps me to keep going no matter my circumstances. Who will you turn to today? How will you keep going?

From Christine Caine: “Keep going. Sometimes we keep going by waiting. Sometimes we keep going by pausing. Sometimes we keep going by stopping. Sometimes we keep going by crawling. Sometimes we keep going by walking. Sometimes we keep going by running. Just keep going.”

Let’s pray. Dear God, I know You’re a God that can do many things. You comfort, You heal, and You love me unconditionally. Thank You for changing my life for my good and Your glory. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
