1 Corinthians 9:24-27 MSG — You’ve all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternally. I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No lazy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself.

We have started the last 90 days of 2024. Are you on the path to finish the year strong? How are you improving your mental, emotional, and spiritual life? Are you stepping out of your boat of comfort and taking steps to move closer to Christ?

Take a few moments to read this article titled Self-Improvement, 1% At a Time by Duke Corporate Education. This article explains the “aggregate of marginal gains” theory.

Spend some time examining yourself. What are you doing for the final push of the year to improve yourself and become 1% better each day?

Let’s pray. Dear God, open my eyes, ears, mind, and heart to Your presence today. Help me to begin the process of reflecting, refocusing, and resetting as I approach the last 90 days of 2024. May reflecting Your light be my primary goal. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Colossians 3:2 NIV — Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Later this week we begin the last 90 days of the year. How is 2024 going for you? Are you finishing the year strong? Often we start the year with a list of goals and intentions but quickly lose resolve. Rachel Hollis, author and motivational speaker, chooses to look at the last 90 days of the year as a time to reflect, refocus, and reset in order to end the year the best way possible. Years ago Hollis created a Last 90 Days Challenge and suggests habits to help the last of the year be successful. She calls these habits “5 to Thrive.” Below is the list of the 5 to Thrive habits. Which of these habits are you willing to commit to as you finish out 2024 strong?

  • Wake up earlier
  • Practice gratitude
  • Drink water
  • Exercise
  • Release something (such as a bad habit)

Let’s pray. Dear God, open my eyes, ears, mind, and heart to Your presence today. Help me to begin the process of reflecting, refocusing, and resetting as I approach the last 90 days of 2024. May reflecting Your light be my primary goal. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Take some time to read this week’s scriptures. Meditate on the verses and allow God to lead you as you prepare for the week ahead.

Colossians 3:2 NIV — Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Philippians 2:3 NIV — Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

‭‭Daniel‬ ‭6‬:‭26‬-‭27‬ ‭NIV‬‬ — I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. “For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end. He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”

Do you want to sleep like Daniel, even in a lion’s den? God is in the rescuing business. We read in verse 27 that He rescues, saves, performs signs and wonders.

Join us over on our YouTube Channel as we wrap up our week with See You Saturday! Make sure to like and subscribe.

Remember that you are just as valuable as Daniel. God wants to save you from the mouths of lions.

‭‭Mark‬ ‭14‬:‭3‬ ‭NIV — While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.‬‬

Imagine breaking your most expensive jar or vase, containing something very valuable. While sitting at the feet of Jesus, Mary broke an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume and poured its fragrant contents over Jesus’ feet. She was accused of being wasteful, however Jesus praised what Mary had done. Do you want to give like Mary? Do you want to break your vase?

Little did Mary and the others understand that in reality Mary was prepping Jesus’ body for His burial. For Mary she was following the call to worship Jesus. For God, He had a bigger plan. Doesn’t He always have a bigger plan? That is why we must be faithful with the nudges God gives us. Will you choose to worship God today with sacrificial love like Mary?

Let’s pray. Dear God, thank You for nudging me from Your heavenly seat. Thank You for guiding me, knowing the bigger plan ahead. Today I desire to worship You with all that I have. I want to give like Mary. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭14‬:‭21‬-‭22‬ ‭NIV‬‬ — Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.

Once Pharoah realized what he had done by releasing the Israelites, he went after them with his chariots. You can imagine the Israelites’ fear as they approached the water. We read in Exodus 14:14 NIV – “The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still.” Although we are not physically walking through water, we have opposition all around us. It is hard to be still and let God fight on our behalf. All we have to do is say His name and worship Him.

In Exodus 14:19-20 we learn that the pillar of cloud moved and stood behind them. “Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long.” We can envision God surrounding us with His spirit. Once Moses confidently stretched out his hand over the sea, the waters parted. Do you want to walk like Moses, through the waves? Do you want to see the promised land? What is Your Pharoah? What do you need to release in your life and allow God to make a way?

Let’s pray. Dear God, thank You for parting the waters and leading me to dry ground. I praise You oh Lord, the highest of Names. Go with me today as I desire to walk like Moses. Help me to fully surrender. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
