‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭28‬-‭29‬ ‭NIV‬‬ — Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.

This week, we are sharing the legacy we leave behind. During my dad’s 13-month cancer journey of intense treatments, hospital stays, and procedures, paralleling his strong faith and deep devotion to God had prepared him for crossing the finish line. I am so blessed to not only have been on the sidelines cheering him on but to have been beside him through his entire journey. Some days he would be coaching me and some days I would be coaching him.

I praise God for the God Winks He gave me in the final days of Dad’s life. There was a sign that hung on the foyer wall at my parents’ that read, “Let go and Let God”. Next to this sign sat a crocheted white angel that appeared to be a Christmas tree topper. At night there was a shadow of the wings beautifully printed on the wall from the foyer light. The moment this image had caught my eye, I felt God’s peace and I just knew that dad had many angels encamped around him. I challenge you to keep your eyes open for God Winks!

Let’s pray. Dear God, thank You for the example You have given me to leave a legacy of praisng You. Help me to find joy, even when the journey feels long. I press on for Your glory. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Ecclesiastes 3:5 NIV — A time to scatter stones and a time to gather them. A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing.

This week, we are sharing the legacy we leave behind. Everyone, regardless of whether they are rich or poor, young or old, has only 24 hours in a day to leave a mark. I challenge us to embrace the legacy we are leaving with each new day.

In economics, we learn about scarcity and how time is the ultimate scarce resource. Are you embracing the time you have on Earth for His kingdom work?

Let’s pray. Dear God, thank You for the example You have given me to leave a legacy of valuing my time on this Earth. Help me to find joy, even when the journey feels long. I press on for Your glory. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭78‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬ — We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children.

This week, we are sharing the legacy we leave behind. A legacy is the impact you created with your actions and words. A legacy is the life you created in others. A legacy is the children and grandchildren you leave behind. A legacy is the faith you shared with others. A legacy is what you did with your time, talents, and gifts. What are you doing with your time, talents, and gifts?

My dad was a great dad, but he was an even better papa. It is evident that my dad left a beautiful legacy in my children. We are all leaders. The most important place to lead is in our homes. I will forever cherish the memories I share with my children.

We all have a legacy to leave. Worship with Momma Loves Me by Need To Breathe, feat. The Red Clay Strays. Some of the lyrics sing, “We all get hurt, and we all bleed. But the time has come to reckon with the wounds that buried me. My best days are not enough, I remember all the times you loved me just the way I was.”

Let’s pray. Dear God, thank You for the example You have given me to leave a legacy for my children and future generations to come. Help me to find joy, even when the journey feels long. I press on for Your glory. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

This week, we will share the legacy we leave behind. Take a moment to meditate on this week’s scripture verses.

Ecclesiastes 3:5 NIV — A time to scatter stones and a time to gather them. A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing.

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬ — For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭22‬-‭24‬ ‭NIV‬‬ — Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

Some words that come to mind when referring to spiritual obedience are stillness, prayer, listening, submission, humility, faith, and action. Today, we will discuss stillness and listening.

What is the greatest form of obedience?

Jesus replied in Matthew 22:37‬ ‭NIV‬ — Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

What is the second greatest form of obedience?

Jesus replied in Matt‬hew ‭22:39‬ ‭NIV‬‬ — Love your neighbor as yourself.

Stillness and listening come by, loving God and ourselves enough to take the time to be still in His presence and hear His word. What words, scriptures, or songs come to mind when you think of obedience, stillness, and listening?

On this Savor Saturday, let’s get back to the simplicity of God’s commands by loving our neighbors as we love ourselves. What is a recipe that you share with your neighbors?

Joshua ‭6‬:‭3‬-‭4‬‭ NIV — March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets.

Some words that come to mind when referring to spiritual obedience are stillness, prayer, listening, submission, humility, faith, and action. Today, we will discuss action and long obedience in the same direction. Joshua is a perfect example, marching around Jericho for seven days. On this Finish Friday let’s keep going. As Walt Disney said, “We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths”.

We may not always feel like God is near or that the path we are on has purpose. God will bless our obedience. In God’s perfect timing, the walls will come down or he will open another door. In this song, Do It Again by Elevation Worship, some of the lyrics sing: “I’m still in your hands, this is my confidence. You’ve never failed me yet.”

Will you stay the course of long obedience? You are in God’s hands. Keep going! What words, scriptures, or songs come to mind when you think of obedience and action?

Let’s pray. Dear God, thank You for always doing it again, You have never failed me. I’m still in Your hands. Equip me for long obedience. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
Bonus: If you have not read the story of Jericho, I encourage you to read the entire chapter, ‭‭Joshua‬ 6 NIV @biblegateway @youversion
