Today’s thoughts by Julie Wicker
Genesis 2:2-3 NIV — By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
This week we are sharing thoughts about interruptions. An interruption can be stopping activity for a time or break in the continuity of something. What comes to mind when you think of interruption?
Often we think of interruptions in our day and schedules. Take a moment to think about God’s interruptions. God first interrupted on the seventh day of creation when He created rest. Just as God rested after He created the heavens and Earth, God created us for relationship, service, and intentional rest. We may not always be able to rest on Sundays, but I encourage us to intentionally find pockets of time to rest with God.
Let’s pray. Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for creating me to rest with You. I surrender my plans and time to You. Guide me in intentionally finding pockets of time for rest. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
