Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NIV — Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Hebrews 10:25-25 NIV — And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
This is Thanksgiving week. Let’s spend time pondering our blessings and expressing our thanksgiving. I am thankful for Christian friends as well as my church family. Both groups help to strengthen and sustain me. When times are difficult I can share my burdens with my friends and church family and I can trust that each group is praying for me. I know my friends and church family will help me any way they are able. I know I can count on them in any situation.
Who are your friends and church family members that you rely on to encourage and sustain you? Take time to list their names and pray for each of them. Thank God for Christian friends and church family who spur you on in your Christian walk.
Let’s pray. Dear God, thank You for Christian friends and a church family who spur me on, pray for me, strengthen me, and sustain me. May I never take for granted the blessing of Christian friends and a loving church family. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
