2 Timothy 4:6-8 NIV — For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
This week, we are sharing the legacy we leave behind. On January 16, 2020 when I could finally say I accepted that dad would cross the finish line and be healed. Not the same finish line that you and I see, rather he would be healed when he crossed the finish line in heaven. He had run a good race and the finish line was in sight.
In the final hours we found joy in sharing his legacy with each other. We held hands and prayed over dad. We each gave dad permission to let go. We comforted him as he ran his last race and crossed the finish line to his eternal home. How are you running your race of life?
We can take joy in this journey of life knowing heaven is cheering us on. Join us in worship with We are Almost Home by Mercy Me.
Let’s pray. Dear God, thank You for the example You have given me to leave a legacy to finish my race strong. Help me to find joy, even when the journey feels long. I press on for Your glory. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
