We are human and guilty of not always taking good care of God’s temple. Some of us have a few cheat days and decide to give up. The temple we see is different from what God sees. God’s perspective of our brokenness can be like vessels, restored and filled with new wine. This week we will continue reading scriptures about food and drinks. Today we are reading about Jesus’ first miracle performed at a wedding in Galilee.

Take a moment to read John 2: 1-12 NIV. In verse 3 we learn that there was no more wine. In verse 7 Jesus told the servants to fill the jars with water. They listened and filled them to the brim. In verse 8 the servants were instructed to let the Master of the banquet taste the wine. In verse 10 the Master not only approved the wine, he also felt they had saved the best wine for last. This miracle performed is also all about perspective. Mary panicked because there was no wine. Jesus saw empty vessels that had potential. He saw that the water could be turned into wine. This life is not about what cannot be done, but rather what can be done.

Let’s pray. Dear God, thank You that I am a vessel that can be restored by Your grace and love. Help me with my perspective this week. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

This week I will be sharing some of our family’s Thanksgiving recipes. Is cranberry sauce a staple to your Thanksgiving meal?

Aunt Glenda’s Cranberry Relish

  • 2 Bags of whole cranberries
  • 1 Large can crushed pineapple (drain & reserve juice)
  • 2 Cups of sugar
  • 1-2 Cups pecans chopped
  • Dash browned cloves

Instructions: Take your reserved pineapple juice and fill with water so that it makes two cups. Add juice/water mixture with sugar to cranberries and cook according to the cranberry bag. Stir constantly until cranberries have popped. Stir cloves and pecans. You can store in Mason jars.
