Psalm 61:1-3 KJV — Hear my cry, O God; Attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. 

OVERWHELMED! That is what I felt. Completely overwhelmed! I was in the throes of completing my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards recertification on top of my normal life duties of wife, mother, active church member, and my job as a teacher. I felt like I was drowning. I felt like there was no end in sight and that the tasks before me were impossible.

Re-read today’s featured scripture. Let’s follow David’s lead today as in the scripture. Let’s pray. Dear God, You are my Strong Tower. Help me when I feel overwhelmed. Lead me to the rock that is higher so I do not drown. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
