Todays Photo-A-Day word is celebrate. What season are we in? We are in the season of Lent which is a time to reflect on Jesus’s journey to the cross and draw closer to God. Even if you do not practice the fasting part of Lent, you can intentionally use this time to reflect and draw closer to God. We read in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NIV that there is a season for every activity: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a timee to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NIV
Notice my photo, on the left, is a time that Ray is celebrating Valentine’s dinner with his beloved wife. On the right is my daughter celebrating her 18th birthday. When we think of celebrations we think of holidays and special occasions. Although Lent can be a somber time, it is also a time to celebrate Jesus’ victory on the cross. Let me ask the question again in singular, what season are YOU in? Take time and really read the scripture verses for today. When we have victories in each of these seasons, we should celebrate with God. When we are in the wilderness waiting, know that God is there and sees what is ahead. He is coaching us and celebrating every step with us toward victory. Let’s pray.
Dear God, Thank you for this time of lent to parallel your journey to the cross and my Christian journey today. Open my heart and mind to see and celebrate every victory with you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
