Today is not only Thankful Thursday but it is also Maundy Thursday. Today Jesus and His Disciples gathered together at the last supper. I can only imagine how weary Jesus is at this point. We know after his evening spent with the Disciples, Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to retreat and pray.

For us today we have this beautiful image of retreating through hope in Isaiah 40:31 NIV; “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” There is nothing like the word of God to renew our spirits when we are physically and mentally tired.

When the sun goes down, think about Jesus in the Garden. I encourage us all to find a quiet place to retreat in prayer tonight. May the hope of Jesus renew our spirits.
