This week’s theme of tomorrow started with my sweet dog Oreo. For her tomorrow means something is going to happen. When I say in a soft voice, “Oreo, tomorrow you are going to granny’s house”, she wags her tail with excitement. Then when tomorrow arrives, in an excited voice I say, “Oreo, today is tomorrow” she runs to the door ready to go. Just think about God and his excitement over us for what our tomorrows hold. I recall the scripture; Zeph 3:36 NLT “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying; “The years are long, and the days are short”. Last night I was reminiscing on some pictures from when my twins were just four years old. I remember the days when a minute seemed like eternity for them. When traveling and the questions gets asked, “are we there yet?” Think about our busy schedules. We can’t wait till 5:00 or to get home from a long evening of ball games. Then we feel guilty at the end of the day when all we did was rush from one activity to the next. Just think about how God feels when we miss the miracle because we are too busy focused on what tomorrow holds. I recall the scripture; Gen 1:14 NLT “Then God said, “let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years”.
I’m sure we have all stopped at a Krispy Kreme when the “Hot & Now” sign has been lit up. The thought of that hot, freshly glazed donut draws you in. Your mouth is probably watering for one right now. If you’re like me with a family of four, you end up getting an assorted dozen. Or you may even have a coupon for buy one get one free. You end up coming home with an abundance. Tomorrow and the days to come, you can’t eat them fast enough before they are no longer fresh. Is this how our faith looks? We are hot today for God’s love while tomorrow we are leaving him in the box for our love to grow stale. Until the next worry arises, and we are back at the Krispy Kreme ready for our Hot and Now donut.
My twins both had a soccer games this week. The nights before a game are always filled with excited, nervous energy. As a parent of course I want my children to be successful, so I get those butterflies with them. I know that no matter what happens, they will find joy on that field. Their joy brings me joy. Just think about God and how our joy brings Him joy. I recall the scripture; Psa 96: 12 NIV “Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy”.
I encourage you today to not only share your worries of tomorrow with God but to also bring him the everyday joys. Thank him for the game you lost because it is about what happened in the journey that matters, not always the result. Thank him for the opportunities each new day holds. As you take in the joys, your worries will be left in the box to grow stale verses your love.
