#Thywill

Submit: accept or yield to a superior force or authority.  I must admit, I am a strong-willed Columbia College graduate who has great difficulty being submissive. The word submit has negative connotations. In some situations it insinuates weakness. However, submission is exactly what God calls us to daily.

Currently, I am in a very difficult and disappointing situation involving my salary. Without going into specific details, it involves a significant cut in my pay and was a devastating shock to our family.

To give you a short background, two summers ago I was struggling with a situation at work and God told me that in 2 years He would have a change for me and that it had to do with home. I totally thought He was telling me that in 2 years I would be a stay at home Mom and perhaps be serving Him in another realm.

The week before the pay cut came to light, I had initiated a lifestyle change for our family involving our eating plan. With guidance and support from family and friends, I worked hard to plan and prepare healthy meals and snacks for our family so that we can move toward healthier living. Now our family is learning to be very focused on living frugally. We have made some decisions together of sacrifices we will make together. We will work together to not spend excessively. It will be a team effort.

So it turns out the words from God have come to fruition. It has been 2 years and there has been a change and it does involve home. This is nothing like I envisioned it would be, but through it all I want to glorify God. So although these changes are difficult and will involve hard decisions, I know God is with me and will show off in ways unimaginable if I submit to His will and allow Him to work through the situation.

“Thy will be done.” What hard words for us to say and mean. I am sure it was difficult for Jesus to say as He prayed before His crucifixion.  Imagine the pain and suffering He knew He would endure. Nothing in my situation is that painful. So as I repeat those words, “thy will be done”, I will find comfort knowing that God is for me and will guide and direct my steps.

How about you? Do you find yourself in a difficult season? Is there an area of your life that you need to surrender and submit to God? Whatever it is, I urge you to listen to the song in the below link and  allow it to give you strength and comfort as you slowly let go of your will and allow His will to guide your direction.

James 4:7-8a and 10 “Submit yourselves then to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you…Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will lift you up.”

#TheLord’sPrayer

Our Father in heaven hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts as we also forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one Matt 6:9-13

In the name of Jesus  Amen

( I encourage you to make your own Lord’s prayer, in your words as I have done below)

#BreadOfLife   By: Julie Wicker

God, Our heavenly Father Blessed be your name, Sacred, the Great I Am.

Let your Kingdom reign. Transform us in your image that we may submit to your lead and not our own will.

You are the bread of life, may we rely on your strength and not our own abilities.

Help us to live un-offended and choose to love our offenders, through your grace. May your spirit of truth keep us on the narrow path.

And when worldly things over take us, may your redeeming love deliver us.

We acknowledge all the power and glory be yours for all eternity.

In the name of Jesus Amen

“We tend to use prayer as a last resort, but God wants it to be our first line of defense” – Oswald Chambers
