Why is it that we are the meanest to the people we love the most? Why do we snap at them
and talk so rough to them? Is it because we love them? Is it because we know they love us?

Our lives are so busy. We rush from one event to the other. And when we get home we tend to “let our hair down.” We loosen up all we have been holding together for the outside world. But perhaps our greatest witness should occur within the con”nes of the four walls of our home. God has called each of us to be witnesses for Him in our daily walk. Many of us Chris’ans take that command seriously and strive to act more like Jesus to the world. 1 John 3 18 says: “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech, but with ac’ons and in truth.”
So we are mindful each day to speak kindly to others, treat them with respect, and act kindly even to strangers. We should do the same for our family. Our family is with us more than others so we should spend even more energy teaching them to be more like Jesus by our words and deeds. So I will strive to be more organized and teach my children to be more organized so that we don’t have as many of those stressful moments where we are running around looking
for things we need before we run out the door. Next, I will involve my children more in the everyday tasks of running our household so they will appreciate what God has blessed us with and learn responsibility. Finally, my new goal for the summer is to choose a simple Bible verse each week for every member of our family to memorize. We will prac’ce and share the verses together around the dinner table. My purpose for this goal is to ins’ll in my children a desire to know God more and to learn to be more like Jesus. As for me, I pray as I carry His scripture in my heart that I will be kindest to those who are my family. I pray my words and deed are an example of Christ for them. Because I love them and because they love me I will strive to do better! And what about you? What are some ways your words and deeds can teach your family to be
more like Jesus? I challenge you to brainstorm some ideas and start one today!

Father,

I choose to live on your peace, that I might extend your peace with everyone Rom 12:18. May my home be joyful and all that is in it Psa 96:12. Let us love one another with our words and our actions 1 Jo 3:18. I always want to be contending, neither keeping anger nor holding grudges Psa 103:9. I will fix my thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. I eagerly study your word with obedience so that I may always skillfully handle your word of truth 2 Tim 2:15.

In the name of Jesus Amen

  1. Very inspiring post! This is so true and I will strive to figure out what adjustments we can make inside our home to help us interact with each other with a softer tone, more constructive words, and more support. Thank you for sharing❤️
